Travel buddy Lima - Ica - Nazca

Hi everyone,

I'm flying into Lima on the 28th January.

My plan is to spend roughly 2 nights there and then to travel down to Ica and then Huacachina to go sandboarding.

Afterwards I am going to Nazca to see the lines, either by flight or on the ground.

I was wondering whether anyone would be up for joining me either for all or part of the way? The only constraint I have is that I need to be in Cusco by the 3rd.

Also what is a sensible amount of time to see each place, including travelling time? I'll be going back to Lima at the end of my trip, so that is why I have restricted by time there to 2 days, 3 days maximum.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers,

Zoe :)

Don't expect to see too much from the ground: these are pictures of our car trip from Lima to Cusco with a stop at the mirador before Nazca.

Two days in Lima are enough, with one day in Huacachina you'll have seen most places or you could stay two days and visit the good Ica museum and visit some wineries. Nazca is easily done in one single day.

A good and nice place to visit between Nazca & Cusco is Arequipa. One day for the city or even two if you combine Huacachina & Nazca in one day. Arequipa is at 2.300+ M above sea level allowing your body to acclimatize to the altitude.
A trip to the Colca Canyon is a must do when in the area. Takes two full days but you could do it in one long day or extend it to three days.
There are night buses from Nazca to Arequipa and from Arequipa to Cusco.

Hi Inca Cola. Thanks so much for all of the advice. I was planning on doing Arequipa later on in my trip, as I am going in a circle around Peru and Bolivia and Arequipa was a stop on my return journey. I will do what you say re Ica, Huacachina and Nazca though.

Edgardo, that would have been great, but I will be in Cusco by then. I was hoping on starting tomorrow, as I am in Lima at the moment. I hope you have a great time though.

Also sorry for the slow reply, my email did not notify me that I had got a message
