Airasia tickets and credit card feesHi:
I was trying to buy tickets online on AirAsia - DPS to JOG (return tickets). Fare is around 80 USD - then you add seat selection fee, baggage etal - it is now at 450 for 4 people. i am ok with that. then when entering the cc info - i noticed that they will charge a fee of USD 25 per guest per one-way. i aborted my transaction there by closing the window - i called my bank and they are unfamiliar with the CC fees that airlines charge. No way to get hold of an AirAsia rep - I am directed to a website with FAQ.
we plan to travel in April - should we wait until we are in DPS and then buy the tickets? What is the typical cost of round trip tickets from DPS to Jogja? Are there other airlines that i can use?
I looked up on kayak.com - Garuda charges 350 per ticket.
Thought the forum is the best place to get this answered.

In addition to Air Asia and Garuda, Lion Air but (probably) you won't be able to book it online so you would need to make it once in Indonesia or through a local travel agency. I don't know the fare for that route but I guess you can consult it on the web of Lion Air.

3I have booked Lion Air (their subsidiary airline is Wings) from Australia online and had no problems.

5The problem is that I do not know if it is 25 USD per person per ticket (that makes it 200 total) or is it 50 (for the transaction) and the final amount does not show, so that is what is worrisome. I do not know what is the final amount I would be committing to.
From the US, Expedia only shows Garuda air not AA.

6To compare prices look at utiket.com , you will see that usually there is no need to book well in advance unless it's a particular holiday time. While in Indonesia, I had no success booking online, but travel agents were able to match the online price when asked.

9We will land in Bali on Apr 14, and want to leave for Jogja on Apr 18. Return from Jogja on Apr 22. We have a place to stay from Apr 22 to Apr 30 in Central Bali.
A few questions:
Should i buy my tickets now or wait until i get to Bali? Will the price be around the same. Currently AA is around 40 USD one way (base fare) then it goes up with all the add ons (bags, credit cards fees, paying in USD) to about 650 USD for 4 tickets !!!
We are travelling with my parents who would like some peace of mind with having secure tickets and hotels.
I looked up utiket.com as well - they have LionAir options. Rate is 120 USD round trip.. I am presuming it includes checkedin bags.
there is an option to book through a travel agent (rather than lionAir site) - which seems ok to me. have any of you done this?

10Just asked KCBJ Tours in Kuta (one of agents recommended by utiket.com) to make a reservation.
Are they good with hotel reservations as well? Anyone taken their tours?

11I have just bought a AA ticket DPS/JOG/DPS for $A118 using the AA website. The ticket includes meals and 20 kg checked in luggage. I fly from DPS tomorrow.
From March this year in Australia, airlines can only charge a credit card fee related to the Merchant Fee.

13Credit card fee is 29,700.00 IDR
Under $3 per person.
The OP would appear to be from Uganda and likely to be having a problem with the decimal point.
