cusco to puerto maldonaldo by road

hi all,
i've noticed that while flying from cusco to puerto maldonaldo is quick and easy, with the new road the vistas on the way down are supposed to be spectacular.

i know there is decent bus service but since there will be four of us i was wondering if anybody knows of hiring a taxi or renting a car with driver on a one-way trip?

thanks

Did the new road in October and I highly recommend it. Very scenic ride--Movil Bus leaves Cusco at 10:00: arrives in PM at 2030. Believe it cost $28 each--hard to beat that price with a taxi. Very modern bus---not a chicken bus.

Cars we saw were just chugging along as you will cross Andes at 4300 meters. Believe you need a big bus engine to make good time.

I have driven a part of the Cusco - Puerto Maldonado leg with different cars (Toyota Probox, Toyota Yaris, Toyota Succeed, motorbike, ...).
You first drive to Urcos, drive past the city and a few km further south there's a fork where you can take a left to go to Puerto Maldonado.
For there you climb immediately to well above 4000 M. If have driven as far as Ocongate visiting Ccatca several times.
Urcos - Puerto Maldonado is 400 km.
