Recent Visa Information
I have all my hotels and flights booked for an upcoming visit to Myanmar. I have been checking visa information but as I have been travelling for the last 5 months I have not been in the position to get my visa. I thought I had solved my problem by applying for an e-visa as suggested by the Air Asia website. My visit begins February 7th. Today I went to apply for my e-visa and find that the service is not available at present! I am in Bali and will fly through Bangkok (only overnight) and then onto Yangon. Has anyone had any recent experience of getting a visa on arrival in Yangon? Is it available for tourists? The official websites are unclear if it applies to tourists or just business travelers. I hold a British passport. Any help would be much appreciated.1
Myanmar Visa is available in Bangkok for tourists. There is no visa on arrival in Myanmar. You will need one day in Bangkok, starting at 8.00am and pickup in the afternoon. That seems to be the only option left for you. There was a post a few days ago, itemising every aspect of someone's experience of getting the Visa. The search function isnt working, but you would only take 10 mins to find.2
My travel agent in Yangon did at one point say that he could get me a visa pre-approval (via internet) but it would cost more than the cost in Bangkok, plus he needed at least 2 weeks to get it approved. I'm sure this was on the up and up as he was a fantastic agent for our trip. However, I was also arranging other things through him. You might check out some local agents and see if anyone can help you sort it out....

And I did get a visa in 'Bangkok but we were there at 8:30 in the morning to put in the application for a same day processing. Picked it up about 4:30 that afternoon. Very easy, but you do need to be there for basically a full working day.So I guess it depends on your flight timings. Good luck.

these guys can get you a pre-approved visa within a week:.

.
cost is $20 for the visa + $50 service fee. email your info to them, they
apply for you, you get a visa approval letter by email which allows you to
board your plane. the rep meets you (...ok, sometimes they're late...) at
airport immigration to get the visa stapled into your passport.

Has anyone had recent experience with using:http://www.myanmarvisa.com/index.htm
It seems like a good option for me and probably cheaper than changing my tickets etc to go to Bangkok earlier.

i used their service last august. applied online, but had payment problems.their paypal account was no longer active, so they let me pay them the $70
when i arrived. took less than a week to get the visa approval letter. the
agent was about ten minutes late meeting me at the immigration counter.
no big deal, really.

http://www.myanmarvisa.com/index.htm .. this is the one that's run by Magodo Travel .. I've used them before and had no problem. I'll probably use them again for my next trip.8
I used the above online visa service and got my Visa on Arrival (with prior arrangement) approved in 3 working days. That's pretty good going. The service costs an additional $50 to the cost of the visa itself, but if you consider how much it will cost to stay a night or two in Bangkok applying for a visa there, it's pretty much the same. Plus you won't have to worry about queuing at 7 am in the morning and then coming back and queuing again to pick up the visa in the afternoon. For those who wish ti visit Myanmar and are limited with time, then this VoA with prior arrangement service is the next best thing to a real 'VoA' service.
