military airline
it's been many years but i remember being able to get really cheap & interesting flights around patagonia with the miilitary...most times the only civilian passenger....the main hub was comodoro rivadavia so had a choice of a number of flights on planes that were manned by 2 pilots, navigator and a steward who supplied soft drinks and snacks...the planes had overhead wings and the scenery was fantastic and unobstructed.
...does anybody know if these planes still operate?...still cheap...really cheap?

Argentina is very expensive now. Forget the low prices of 2002.3
Bamemory, that was not his question. Do the military flights around Patagonia still exist?4
Number 3: Are you the original poster´s lawyer? Jokes apart, I send you the airline´s link. Bear in mind that there are no more bargains in Argentina. You pay a high price for everything you buy.State Airline (Click here)

I am Argentine. I live in Buenos Aires since 1972. I have never heard any comment about this airline, neither good nor bad.I would say that most Argentines have not the faintest idea about LADE. Note what they say on their website about flights being "conditional".8
Yes, LADE (Lineas Aereas del Estado) still exists. I found them "by accident". I was advised by my hostel that they sometimes cancel the flights, but they told me that it's not abysmally bad. I really wanted to use the airline just to see how it is, unfortunately it didn't fit with my schedule.http://www.lade.com.ar/

And yes they are cheap. Also, they operate on routes not really accessible by the standard airlines, who mostly go Buenos Aires to X and back. I wanted to fly Rio Gallegos - Ushuaia, which they do, but they don't fly on weekends.

as i remember they do cancel flights a lot...i understand they do lots of training on these over the patagonia...i remember taking 3 flights out of commodora on an impromptu basis just for the ride...would go to them at their office and see what they had that day or the next...they made 30 minute stops in the middle of the desert at isolated military basis...fun to get out and talk to the military guys who worked at these facilities...the more stops they had scheduled the better
..pilots were fun to talk wiht on the flights...would make swoops down to get good views ...entertaining flights....
in commodora i liked staying outside the town at the oil workers hotel....can't remember the name of that place either...they had private and dorm rooms and a reallyh good fish restaurant down the beach...it was less than a half hour ride to town on the bus which was about a 10 or 15 minutes walk...
