10.■Entrance fee of official viewing stations/free spots
*entrance fee of Duoyishu terraced field viewing station--15RMB =it's common ticket with Bada(Mar.2012) but now --?
*entrance fee of Bada terraced field viewing station--15RMB=it's common ticket with Duoyishu(Mar.2012) but now--?)
*entrance fee of Laohuzui terraced field viewing station--30RMB(Mar.2012) but now --?)
**Entrance fee of Laohuzui + Bada + Duoyishu=common ticket for 3 viewing stations---100RMB(Aug..2012)

(various free viewing spots)
*Quangfuzhuang terraced field viewing station and other small viewing stations along the road is free.
*Pugaolaozhai village(普高老寨) in Duoyishu has a very good free observation deck (plaza) for viewing terraced fields. It locates at the center of this village and it needs 10 mins’ walk down from the road at a tall stone monument “普高老寨” on the road and 10-15 minuits from Sunny Guesthouse & Chen's Guesthouse in the village.
*老虎嘴Laohuzui-- there are several free viewing spots
①at the road side 300m before official viewing station(=ticket office),
②50m uper the official viewing station----It locates at a mountain slope behind of the ticket office. Please cross the road and ascend to the slope with narrow mountain path about 10 minuites walk, and you will get a very good view of Laohuzui terraced fields almost the same from official viewing station and if you want to go there, please ask to little girls who are selling souvenirs in front of ticket office because they know well it.

to #9 again

There is a mistake(mis-writing) in my post#10(--10.■) & 24 as below.
>it needs 10 mins’ walk down from the road at a tall stone monument “普高老寨” on the road and 10-15 minuits from Sunny Guesthouse & Chen's Guesthouse in the village.

Chen's Guesthouse→Jacky's Guesthouse(correct!)

(Jacky's Guesthouse(水雲閣客棧) locates at Pugaolaozhai village in Duoyishu and very close to Sunny Gusthouse and maybe you passed through it on the way to your Gh before going there)
and you mentioned about the difficulty of getting bus ticket to Kunming at the time of Chinese new year
>I'm wanting to leave Duoyishu on the 10/02 and take a bus back to Kunming for my train to Lijiang in the evening.
The hostel staff told me there is a bus that goes around 09:00am but booking a ticket on such a busy day can be problematic and also getting a mini-van back into Xinjie

My suggestion is:
*Please move to Xinjie town from Duoyishu village just now and stay at ”Chen's Guesthouse” besides the Xinjie bus station building(just at righr side of the bus station, 1 minuites walk) , and if you stay here, every time you can easily check buses going to Kunming and other destinations in & out of Yuanyang.terraced fields.
(Xinjie town has many hotels & guesthouses beside of 2 ☆☆☆class big hotels, and Chen's Guesthouse is the nearest guesthouse to the bus station among them and a street in front of Chen's Guesthouse leads you to 4-5 other more guesthouses .And a part from them, there are 3-4 guesthouses between Xinjie bus station and a wide Plaza and also many other guesthouses in the town between Xinjie bus station and a wide Plaza but i think Chen's Guesthouse(=“除家客棧) is better to you now for continuing to your trips in Yuanyang and back to Kunming and buying ticket for it.

(a way in front of Chen’s Guesthouse( =“除家客棧) leads you to Longshuba(龙树坝) & Jinzhuzhai(金竹寨), and if you take a right side way at a sprit point(=100m from the bus station)of 2 ways, it leads you to Longshuba(red colored terraced fields), and if you take a left side way,it leads you to Jinzhuzhai(金竹寨), and there is a light trecking course between Xinjie bus station - Jinzhuzhai(金竹寨) - Longshuba(龙树坝) - Xinjie bus station by 4-5 hours walking)
you say about the possibility of dificulty for catching a minivan to Xinjie at the time of Chinese new year
>and also getting a mini-van back into Xinjie

my suggestion is:
Please visit Jacky's Guesthouse near Sunny Guesthouse(5 minuites walk) and contact with the owner(Yi minority) and consult about transport from Duoyishu to Xinjie if you really have a difficulty to go to Xinjie(i'm not sure about it at the time just now) .

(He speaks English well and every time guided his guests to many places in Yuanyang and i met him with his guests at other villages several times and maybe he will give you correct answer how to go to Xinjie or bring you to Xinjie town by his minivan by sharing with other western travelers. ---a part from it, if you visit here, you can enjoy real Espresso coffee & delicious meals=only a place where serves real coffee in Duoyishu village)

*Finally, i think it's beteer for you to return to Xinjie as early as possible--today or tomorrow(=2/8, 9) because even if you stay at Xinjie town, you can continue to do your trips in Yuanyang quite samely and getting your bus ticket to Kunming will become far more easy than the case you leave Duoyishu on Feb.10.
