Salento/Pereira to Rio Claro
Hi everyone,This summer we'll be travelling with four adults and two teenagers through Colombia. We think about going from Salento to Rio Claro. I guess we have to take a bus from Pereira to Honda or to La Dorada. Which company serves this route?. And in Honda / La Dorada we have to catch the Bogotá-Medellín-bus to take us to Rio Claro. Is this correct and is it possible to do it in one day?
Thanks!

I am not exactly sure which company serves the Pereira-Honda route, but I am willing to bet Rapido Tolima does. You might be able to access the Pereira website and find out for yourself. However, I do know for a fact that Rapido Tolima rolls through both Honda and Rio Claro on both the Ibague-Medellin route and the Bogota-Medellin route. I traveled from Medellin to Ibague on Rapido Tolima during the holidays and the bus stopped in both towns. The Honda-Rio Claro route is relatively flat and shouldn't take more than a few hours. The leg from Pereira to Honda will probably take a significantly longer amount of time; due to the fact that you have to cross some pretty big mountains. If you leave early, I do think the trip can easily be done in a day (depending on road conditions in the mountains). Good luck and enjoy Colombia!
