General Observations from Buenos Aires
Hi, I've been living in Buenos Aires since October, and have written a bit about my time here. Feel free to check it out, or ask me anything that you may be curious about: http://tradingvoyageur.com/travel-blog/argentina/2
I have used xoom, but my preference is to exchange USDs at an exchange house. I have a friend coming from Canada next week, and he'll be bringing me a refill of cold hard cash. I found Xoom to work, but its rate isn't near as good as a cuevo, and it's a bit of a pain. They ask lots of questions, especially if someone sends money on your behalf. My mom sent me some pesos, because I don't have a US bank account, and she does. It freaked her out all the questions they asked. If you do use Xoom, I'd recommend going to the Libertad money transfer location to pick up your money. It's in the best neighbourhood of the available locations.
