Nexus--I originally learned about Faro de Bucerias from Bruce Whipperman's "Moon Guide to Pacific Mexico". Some small fishing villages are described there, along, of course, with better known coastal resorts. The village of Tehualmixtle is also discussed by Whipperman.

San Blas is loud!
I went to Guadalajara to get some sleep.
I'll bet it was beautiful many years ago...

Thanks Chris and Jamie!

Siemprejulia, you found SB louder than Guad? wow, I found the opposite. Mind you, I wouldn't say no to a trip to Guad right now as much as I am craving beach and isolation.

Loud? You have no idea how loud loud can be, until the circus comes to town in Mexico.

I've been to a Greatful Dead concert or two in my time. I've survived M80 attacks from fellow campmates on the northern shores of Ensenada. I've endured many a top-fueler at Pomona, and F-16 at Edwards. I've even dared to walk past Amimale in Tijuana.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing, compares to the raw, crackling, mind-numbing blast of decibels coming from the loudspeakers far into the night of the circus, when it comes to town in tiny Sayulita. Not even San Blas.

Though a small club inexplicably sited next to the campsites in Palenque does come awfully close in pure sonic destruction. When I asked one of the locals about it, they said "huh?
