dont know about Mt Washington, but probably the cheapest place to stay in Tofino is the hostel, which is a pretty nice place. otherwise check out bed and breakfasts, and be aware that March can be whale watching month, so places fill up quickly. It would be wise to book ahead.

Tofino has the Whale Fest in March, usually coincides with Spring Break….not sure if you’ll be there around that time but it’s always such a fun event!
http://www.tourismtofino.com/ has a lot of Tofino information on accommodations, events and activities in the area. The Tofino Visitor Centre has an accommodation service where you can email in your dates, # of people and price range, and they’ll help find exactly what you are looking for. Great system.
Not sure if the Vancouver Island Visitor Centre in Comox has the same/similar system but it’s worth giving them a shout (info@vivccomoxvalley.com).
