Koh Mak accomodation

Hi folks,

I had posted a similar message a while back but since TT shut down and opened again my post & replies have vanished! We're leaving for BKK tomorrow morning and will be heading to Koh Mak around the 19th.
Would really appreciate some info on places to stay (guesthouses / hotels) on the island. Should we book in advance or is it possible to check out a few places when we arrive? We never really book in advance but maybe because its high season... Also which is the best beach to stay on? We're currently looking at Cococape which seems nice. We'd be happy with a clean little shack on the beach as long as long as we have our own bathroom. Thanks all!

Probably you should stay on the west facing beach.

We have been to Ko Mak twice and both times have stayed at Baan Ko Mak. It's a greatplace with good wifi and a good restaurant. The beach is very nice, too.
Unfortunately, we were eaten alive by sand flies on the last trip.
Still absolutely love the island..... But not the flies!
