The perils of group travell?I'm trying to plan a trip through Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia with 4 friends but we're really battling to agree on how much time to spend in each place, and to prioritise what we'll do once we're there. Everyone has a bunch of great ideas, but reaching a consensus is a real nightmare.
Would love to know if anyone else has experienced similar challenges planning travel anywhere and how you've gone about resolving them?
Any tips to help us agree are going to make our lives so much easier!

1I had a group of friends plan a trip together through Burma. What they did is "assign" each person to a city or province/area to research and plan out the specific sites and activities for that particular location for the rest of the group. Obviously, they were pretty good friends already and had a fair deal of trust in each other, as well as had general contours and ideas down for their trip beforehand. Just a thought.

3You can try to agree to split up for certain parts of the trip. Just because you are travelling in a group doesn't mean you have to be joined at the hip the whole time. For example, you want to stay longer in a certain city, you stay and the others go without you...you join them a few days later....
As the saying goes..." Its better to be alone than to wish you were..."

4Topics like yours remind me of an old one on TT "Hell is other people".
Friends and travel companions are two very different categories. Even a good friend can be a lousy travel companion, and the opposite, not so close friend can make the best travel companion. People like different things, different activities. Some like challenges, to others they can mean suffering.
Be prepared to do things on your own and have plan B. Travelling together doesn't have to be sticking together 24/7.
