How long/bad is the drive from New Orleans to Florida.
Roughly three hours to Pensacola (the border), and four hours to Destin. In the wrong direction from everything else.

Is it worth it?
It's fairly bereft of anything but the beaches.

3 nights Gatlinburg
3 nights Gatlinburg? Oh my, you do like to torture yourself
I noted this because Gatlinburg is the most developed city in the area, and a good "go to this area" indicator. If you like amenities, you'll spend your time there anyway. However, it portrays a tacky, touristy "alpine village" atmosphere. If that's not your thing, another, quieter spot nearby would do better.
Whatever you do, do not stay in Pigeon Forge. Ugly and traffic-choked.

If only Branson Missouri were nearby you would hit the Grand Slam of tacky, touristy and redneck meccas of the south...

Oh right, well that's do-able if we don't hang about. It would save us a load of money on flights/car rental if we came and left from the same spot.

Just didn't want to waste too much time.
