Hotel near San Francisco airport question

Dear all,
I will be staying overnight in SF. I have booked a Days Inn hotel on the El Camino Real - in the vicinity of the SFO airport. There is a chance that I might miss the last shuttle bus to the hotel due to the late arrival to SFO. Can anyone telll me if it is possible to walk from SFO terminals to the hotels on El Camino Real or taxi is the only option?
Thank you,

JoanR

There are many hotels near SFO with 24-hr shuttle service. I understand that Days Inn is a budget hotel and you may be wanting to stay within that, but I am pretty sure you can find one in a decent price range. I wouldn't advise trying to walk to a hotel on the El Camino Real. It involves crossing a very busy freeway, if you can find an overpass with pedestrian access. Not a good idea.

These advertise 24 hour shuttle service and are reasonable.

Red Roof Inn
Vagabond Inn
The Dylan at SFO (used to be a Travelodge)

Good luck.

Take a look at this map walk to Days Inn from SFO As you can see., it's a pretty convoluted walk. Google Maps suggests that it will take almost 90 minutes. Not something I'd do at night, with luggage.

By vehicle, it's about 10 minutes.

Don't walk. Ask the Days Inn front desk to secure you a shared-ride-van or bus of some sort. Supershuttle is the first one that comes to mind but there's dozens of them.

Have a great trip! Elephant Bar is a pretty interesting place just south of the Airport. You can't walk there either but, once there, the people watching is fantastic.
