transfer from Civitavecchia to airportWe will arrive 7 am at the cruise port and need to get to the airport to Munich. Can anyone help me with information about a bus which goes to the airport, where to catch it, what number, how to buy a ticket, the cost, how often it runs, how long it takes? I know about the private shuttle but it seems very expensive. I would like to know about any other options. Thanks for any information. Carolyn

1Firstly, I assume you mean one of the airports in Rome but which one - Fiumicino or Ciampino?
Fiumicino is the nearest, but the only way by public transport is train from Civitavecchia to either Trastevere or Ostiense station in Rome (most - but not all - trains stop at one or both) and then change to the local train to the airport. Ship to airport around one and a half hours. However, most cruise passengers seem to have mountains of luggage, and if you can arrange a shuttle to the airport, it will take about half the time and around 2 - 3 times the price which you might consider worthwhile to avoid the hassle.
As for Ciampino, which is on the far side of Rome, it is either a shuttle again, or train into Rome and then the shuttle bus to the airport - the booking office for the Terravision bus is on platform 1 of Termini station, but the train from Civitavecchia arrives around platform 25 and it is a very long walk around the station. You will not do the journey by public transport in much under two and a half hours
