The Rose Hotel was great ... very close to my faculty precinct at Sydney University. Was a hard-core lesbian hang-out right through the 80s and 90s - not sure what its vibe is these days (not being a Sydney boy any more). It was 45C in Sydney today ... that's hot - even for Straya!

And 45°C = 113°F ... pretty warm.

Thanks a lot people ... we have plucked all the tips out of here into a Word doc, and emailed them to ourselves as an invaluable log for our travels.

Still undecided about the trip across New Brunswick (Edmundston and Miramichi and coast versus Edmundston to Fredericton) and then to Charlottetown PEI. But we have bookings we can cancel last minute in both, so we can hold off on a decision.

Thanks sprite for all your comments ... we are really looking forward to it - but of course the more we read and discover, the more the realisation that we should have a lot more than three weeks. Oh well ... next time ... and so far on all our travels, there has always been a next time!

I might have another alternative for you after edmunston, you might not like it since you are already confuse about what you want to do, hehe
Since you're not a 100% sure you want to see the kouchibouguac national park and you are thinking of going south to Fredericton...
I would suggest go north to campbellton and look at the Sugarloaf National park and then drive on the coast ( not the highway) passing in all the small village and stoping in Bathurst for the night.Then be on your way the next day for PEI.
Anyway the fast road in the wood going from st-quentin to bathurst to miramichi is realy boring and have nothing to see + other then kouchibouguac beeing close to miramichi, for me its not realy a must see town in New-Brunswick.
