ATMs in NZ

I'll be spending most of Feb. traveling all around NZ, both islands. My bank's NZ correspondent is Westpac. Are there lots of Westpac ATMs in the big cities for me to get cash as needed?

In the big cities and towns, yes. In the wop wops - probably not.

there are four big cities and they have lots of Westpacs. You should also find branches in smaller places such as Te Anau, Greymouth, Hokitika, Wanaka and other settlements of similar size.

if it is a dot on the map it may have no facilities at all. BTW a month is tight for both islands, make sure you aren't spending all your time driving.

Hi there,

I am currently living in NZ and also user Westpac - there are ATM's everywhere as the other posters have commented - just for your infomation, if you use an ATM other than Westpac then the bank will charge a fee.

Westpac NZ is the country's 2nd biggest bank, and is wholly owned by Westpac Aus. So no problems.

Yes, emma, that's why I inquired. Great to know I'll have no trouble spending too much money in your fair land with minimal bank fees.
