hey guys,
watch emails is still not working for me - any solutions?
i tried to post new questions in FAQ and kept sending me back to homepage?
when i click on other contributors profile it doesnt display other threads they have contributed to - I used to find these really helpful - will this be updated?
is there anytime line on old threads being restored in the south america section? when googling questions it links to old threads but then TT says they are unavailable?

The pinch and zoom on mobile and tablet devices has been raised several times before. Does the fact that it has only just been added to your list mean that you aren't actually reading the bugs posted here? Similarly, there was feedback here quite some time ago that the GAP year branch wasn't there and you've only just looked at it?

MTL and VinnyD - will make sure your feedback on search on mobile and pinch and zoom get to the technical team.

Zabba, there was no mobile version of the site before. We were just seeing the regular site on a small screen. While not ideal, at least it gave us the same functionality. You have made a deliberate change by creating a mobile version of the site, but the implemented solution is a mess - you've tried to solve a problem that wasn't there to begin with, and in the process delivered a lower quality service. Hang on, where have i seen that before? i guess it's rather symptomatic of the whole TT meltdown.

The easy solution is just to disable the mobile site and let mobile users surf the regular site, just like before 26 December 2012. It is not rocket science.

Then, when the team has time to do things properly, design a mobile version, test it, and be prepared to improve it based on feedback.

no editing after posting? Is this a permanent situation?

And this should lead you to conclude one thing...that they are very busy. And the more questions asked here the longer this is all going to take.

teamflames - answers to your questions below

watch isn't working for anyone. A temporary solution is to bookmark the thread. Less than ideal, but will keep you going until the watch feature comes back to the forum.

we've disabled posting new threads in the community FAQs. You can still post in the FAQs on destination branches.

we're working on bringing back the member forum history feature.

if you can supply the thread ID number, you can email community@lonelyplanet.com.au with thread ID and then the number in subject line and the team of moderators will have a look at restoring the thread for you.

hereandtherenz - I can assure you that I am reading the bug reports posted here and adding them to the (very long) list of work in the backlog.

Thanks for the support Krest.

I can appreciate how frustrating it is to have the forum back, but not operating as it once did. Sorry about that. It's as frustrating for the team of moderators as it is for our members. We are feeling the same pain.

yes, but as said, the mobile change wasn't necessary- at least i don;t see how it's linked to avoiding 'inappropriate themes'. So why you chose to make this technical change at such an inopportune moment is a mystery to me.

Oversensitive censorship?

Just posted a reply on South Am branch, but only after second attempt and proofreading it twice. I removed the word "sh**hole" to replace it with "dump" and that went through.
I was referring to Esmeraldas, a small town in Ecuador that I'd describe as "an extremely dirty, shabby, or otherwise unpleasant place", which is the definition of sh**hole according to the online dictionary I looked up.
What's wrong with words like the one I used?
.

That's the problem with words - and programs that detect them - Fieldgate. They pick the word, not the meaning or intention. And Aunty Beeb's Mods are running scared because the word has come down from on high that somehow they have to contain us.
I've been trawling the board more than usual recently (because I don't like being treated like some idiot child) to see if the new 'mandate' is being kept to. But this time I'm leaving up posts that otherwise, as a 'good' TTer, I'd have reported; just to see how long they stay there. It seems others are doing the same.
Once we were self-regulating - not any more, I think.

Dear editor,
i tried to post a long post with what I thought was usefull practical information on Vietnam but it is rejected with the words " This message contains content not allowed in this forum. " instantly, no time for a human to read it.
I have no idea what is wrong with it.
Is there a way I can send it to an editor / moderator. (It is in my drafts)

Thank you, peter

Will an edit or delete post (as long as noone's posted after you) function be added? Not being able to edit a post is a problem. This function is very useful and used to exist on this forum and I don't know why that was removed.

I also tried to "post a new topic" on this branch and clicking on that button took me to the main thorn tree instead. Is this supposed to happen?
