These are not the only threads where permission from a moderator is needed to approve them- happens to me most of the time on the Central America branch....1053
Actually there's apparently some sort of arbitrary moderation system in place... seems like 1 in 10 posts get sent to the mod squad. Could either be certain words or just the typical random airport security cavity search type deal. One post I made comparing driving through Burma with attempting to get away with censored didn't make it due to violent themes, the k-word I think. So I guess I'll make a positive comment... the system appears positively arbitrary (and apparently great news for spammers).
Still wondering why the "edit" function is gone and when the good stuff is going to be restored.
Aunty Beeb over-reacting to allegations from an aggrieved YC poster
Please, you're just repeating rumors... part of the issue is that there never was any legit explanation put forth, ever, anything else is just gossip – there are at least a dozen different "stories" of how it went down.

Some of my posts, perhaps 1 in 20, don't go through immediately. I have yet to figure out how it works. I doubt it's anything sophisticated. It doesn't seem to be random. And it's not (always) tied to specific threads because I had one post not go through then reworded and posted again and it went through immediately. Perhaps matching for certain "immoral" words in the post?1055
This is the only place my posts are moderated, and only one of mine was not accepted here after I had made a comment about the downfall of the site. I was given no explanation; it just didn't appear. And the fact that it can take hours before a post is approved there is often a lack of continuity because of it. This should be post number 1057 is accepted so we will see.1056
Just had another one of my posts in the US branch not go through. Most likely because it contained the word "drugs". I still think it'd be a good idea to "certify" experienced posters so to not block their posts when they're talking about drugstores or whatnot. And they should encourage and rely on user feedback (reporting abuse) rather than doing the work themselves...1058
Two examples for the "moderation team to think about regarding the value of PMs:1. Until becoming fully incapacitated and then dying from ALS (Lou Gerhig's Disease or NMD) several years ago, someone who could no longer travel because of this condition relied on the TT to advance a project that involved having a copy of artwork he produced(donated and photographed in every country (and more) recognized as such by the UN.He had to use his mouth to produce much of this work. I was fortunate to participate in this project, in a very small way, when he saw that I was going to Togo, and PMed to ask if I would do so. Telling his story and giving his work away in Africa was one of the most moving travel experiences I've had. The project depended heavily on TT PMs, helped keep this guy alive, and gave meaning and purpose to an otherwise excruciating existence.
2. Five or so days ago, with much apparent difficulty, a female traveler who had been groped and fondled by the owner/director of the Yoga/Meditation center where she was taking part in a program, posted an account of this episode in the Nepal forum. Because PMs remain down she's had no opportunity to exchange private messages with other women who might have had similar experiences.
Has LPTT decided that uninformative responses, such as those Zabba was able to offer, were doing them more harm than good, or has he been taking a holiday for the past few days?

I was unaware of this particular forum until I read about it on another website...I was curious about comments pro and anti so I did a survey. of 300 posts, 38 were mildly positive and of the 38 about 8 were very supportive. There were 8 responses from a mod (non-information for the most part, but good natured, i.e., don't shoot the messenger)Most of my posts are on WE and even on WE the posts are still being monitored/moderated/removed.
I DID used to recommend that the OPs check out the Destination option (top of the screen) which would expose them to books, etc that they could buy from LP.
Funny thing was, OPs would complain if we provided links to old posts, told them to do a search (very often I would know there had been a recent answer to the same question but the OP's attitude didn't make me want to look up that specific post for them), etc; then the OP would complain to a mod/the forum that forum members were being rude and not helpful. I have seen posts where a forum member would recommend reading a book (even a LP book) before planning a pan-Europe trip in 30 days with US$1000 and high hopes and the OP would tell them they just want advice they didn't want to have to read a book.
Oh well...
As I used to travel in France I would buy the (French) Guide Routard for hotels, chambres d'hotes and restos...and I knew about it (to buy it) because I used to use the GR forums for information, so there can be a causative relationship between public travel forums and publication purchase...

Aye-aye, Capt. Chris.I just donated some more free content to LP over on the USA branch (not that they deserve it, but I feel bad for the travelers) & it went through immediately, so I guess it really is just this thread and not that some of us are on some kind of "sailor-like" watch list.

After wondering for many weeks when my 5,000+ archived posts of useful travel information were going to come back, I thought I'd check this thread where I reckoned the LP staff would be keeping the community fully up-to-date with the current situation.I haven't trawled through all 1,060 posts on this thread, but I am assuming from the tone of the responses on the last two pages that people are still waiting for meaningful answers from the powers-that-be. Perhaps someone could correct me if I am wrong about this.
