225OK four times now I've tried to contribute something here, and no dice. Guess it's back to wait and see. But at least that nasty bathwater's been dealt with.
On the off chance this time will work, I'll add this to the "Bring Back Africa" chorus. People can find out about some of the more developed destinations anywhere. But some of the branches cover places about which good, fresh information is less abundant.

227Your Choice and Women Travellers were wiped off for good reason. Once the Moderators allow a few posts back, all the old posters will be demanding theirs return as well or they'll start shouting 'Foul' if they're not. Your Choice and women travellers were close to becoming the demise of Thorn Tree altogether unless something drastic and quickly was put into place without further delay. Already Thorn Tree has become a more respectable and polite forum. My opinion is that it's a breath of fresh air compared to what it was like before the shut-down and re-launch.

228Hopefully things get back to normal on here sometime soon. Its a shame the actions of a few have caused the demise of what has always been the best travel forum on the net.I dont blame the moderators or the owners but rather the persons who misused the site ,ranting and raving about this and that...............Africa ,hope to see you soon new and improved .

231Still no improvement then? I just had a quick look on one of the branches I used to post on - lots of queries with no or few replies. Well done Lonely Planet, how to kill a site in one easy step.
I have to ask, where is LP management in this? Where is the nice note from someone senior telling us how much they value our input and if we'll just bear with them etc etc. Seems they are letting the mods take all the flack - and the mods aren't the ones making the decisions and don't seem to being told about what is going on.
I've been checking out other travel forums. Fodors seems the best one so far - have only made a few posts so will see how it goes.

232#229. Thanks lucalpal, but at least it got posted, unlike several others I wrote that never made it.
I certainly wouldn't fancy being a moderator at the moment. They are only doing what they have been told to do, and I'd guess that a lot of the posts we never see are pretty abusive towards them.
I just hope they are sending them on to HQ so the bureaucrats can see what people think of THEIR mess.

That's the nicest thing about this re-launch. As all the posts are checked, the nasty ones are zapped. It makes for a better and much friendlier Thorn Tree all round. Good moderation and respectable posting. It takes two to tango!

239As always Kate_R @ #224 articulates the sentiment of half the TT community (or at least what’s left of it).
The irony - I just bought LP NZ and was awaiting the return of YC for advice. I ended up going to the Australasian threads of all places, which in turn led me here to the “Community FAQ” board and this disastrous news. Not sure what that says about the current state of play.
At least I will have a great final chapter for "the brief history of TTYC" thread - now if only I could find it.............
