Specific turkey brining question

If you don't have a pot big enough to brine a turkey, would it be worth brining it one 1/2 at a time? As in, bottom half in the brine for 2 days, then turn it over and have the top 1/2 in the brine for 2 days?

I would find a large cardboard box and line it with a double-bagged, heavy duty garbage bag. Or just chuck in my bath tub.

Thanks, s8, but I needed this answered before Xmas... you know, when the tree was shut down with no warning at all.

So tell us how it went Scrubb? Did you figure out a way to brine your turkey, how did you do it and did it taste good?

No, the loss of this thread meant I didn't get any advice in time to try brining the turkey.

section8, don't you want the bird in the 'fridge while it's brining? Rather than sitting in a room temperature bath?

For future reference: That's more or less what I do with my goose. It's more like two-thirds in the brine. Yes, you want it in the fridge.

If it can't fit in the fridge, you can put it in an ice chest/cooler/chilly bin with ice. You line the cooler with a plastic bac, put turkey & brine in the bag, seal, and put ice on top.
