Alternative Spring Break
Hello all,I'm looking to participate in an alternative spring break trip. I'd prefer to try California, Nevada, Texas, or any big city. I'm from Detroit and haven't travelled much but I just want to see a new place during my spring break! Is anyone aware of a place that offers volunteer-based spring break trips that isn't affiliated with a particular university?
Thanks!
Hannah

http://www.nomoredeaths.org/Is based in the SW and offers spring break volunteer positions, isn't affiliated with a university but is certainly alternative. You won't be in a big city the majority of the time. Check it out.

New Orleans is still in need of volunteers post Hurricane Katrina.Try Habitat for Humanity as I know they take college students on Spring Break.
I'm also familiar with Animal Rescue New Orleans. So if you want to help the animals of New Orleans, take a look at ARNO.
