The Southern Zone

Greetings

There's very little information regarding the Southern Zone of Costa Rica on this forum.
A few links with upcoming events, festivals, and general information.

I came upon a child of God
He was walking along the road
And I asked him, "Where are you going?"
And this he told me...

I'm going on down to scoots Farm,
I'm gonna join in a rock and roll band.
I'm gonna camp out on the land.
I'm gonna get my soul free.

We are stardust.
We are golden.
And we've got to get ourselves back to Costa Ballena

You don't want to be camping on my land...at least not the other night. One of my giant Guanacastes came down at 3AM. I happened to be awake at the time...first thought it was a crack of lightning then the ground shook!

By the time we got to Envisionfest
We were half a million strong
And Everywhere there was song and celebration.

And I dreamed I saw the Guanacastes
Dropping down from the sky,
And they were turning into butterflies
Above the Tico nation.

I'll see you at EnvisionFest later this year.
And the Led Zep concert celebration day is fantastic. Must see!

I'll be going to the Best Fest for sure, and maybe Envision. I find Envision really expensive but now that I have my cedula the cost is reduced somewhat. My friend Leo is thinking about setting up his deep fryer and selling poutine at Envision. It's heart attack food but he makes the best in the southern zone if you like poutine.
See you there

I'm sorry but the only thing a french fry should have is Heinz ketchup. period. IMHO

Getting back to the music for a moment. I have to say that I'm really surprised at the popularity of Techno at the beach festivals. I suppose that my age is showing, but with so many aging expats around you would think that there would be a bit more demand for laid back venues.
I'd prefer seeing an acoustic Eddie Vedder show or the likes rather than extasy fueled techno raves, for lack of a better term.

When I sailed from Panama to Colombia last January the catamaran had a powerful system (with dedicated batteries) that started the Techno at 6:00 am until ??? ( the norm on most boats?)so if you are contemplating that voyage be aware. (I was far and away the oldest on board)

I am from cheese curd country but that ain't right. poutang...that's french?

This eagle probably smelled gravy and curd on this Canuck kid.

Hey I'm with you. After 4 days on that boat I felt like I was in a C.I.A. psy-ops experiment.

If you think about the popularity of electronica music at the full moon parties in Thailand, it makes sense that the trend continues on other beaches.

For an older hippy crowd, you might be interested in Jungle Jam at Doce Lunas Resort in Jaco. It's January 17-20.
