Living on the edge.................he he

Hi,
Is it okay to fly into Paris on a oneway ticket from KL, I am Australian citizen, do you still need a bank statement?
I can show my credit card if required or is it safer to buy return ticket?

You are highly unlikely to be asked but if stopped it cause you problems why not just buy an open return if you do not know what date you are returning.

Check with the airline, they may refuse you onboard their flight without a ticket out of the Schengen Area.

Also note that Australians are allowed to spend a maximum of 90 out of 180 days in the Schengen Area.

You might find out before you get the chance to take off!

Yes....if you are refused it will be by the airline, and they will do it in KL.

At that point you will either have to...buy a return ticket (very expensive-though the airline will suggest that as your only option ;-)....or buy a 'ticket out' to a non-Schengen country (much cheaper if you use a budget airline).

Or stay at home....

It is very rarely a problem for arriving in France, or anywhere in the Schengen area for that matter. A lot of people leave France overland, so there is absolutely no reason to have a return ticket. And of course Australians are famous for long improvised trips, and I'm pretty sure that the immigration authorities are well aware of this -- anybody not too scruffy and in possession of a credit card probably won't even be asked a single question. They'll just stamp you in.
