Amazon Gero Tours in ManausI went to Manaus last month (November) for the second time to visit friends and my girlfriend. I decided I wanted to go more into the jungle this time around and ended up deciding to go on a 3 day trip with Amazon Gero Tours.
The day if the trip we left early to the hotel. We went by boat across the Amazon river, took a VW bus across the country side, got on another boat, then hiked the last bit to the Ararinha Hotel (it was the dry season, other wise you arrive by boat, and there's no hike).
After arriving at the hotel, I had lunch and met a bunch of people from all over the world (United States, Germany, France, Britain).
After lunch my group went out to explore the jungle. We took a boat ride about 30 min up the river. Along the way we saw alligators, pink dolphins, and had several fish jump into the boat, haha. When we got to a certain point, our guide took up into the jungle and showed us the biggest tree species in the Amazon, climbed vines and learned about the jungle.
That night sleeping at the hotel was an experience. It's not a 5-star hotel so don't expect it to be one. It was very cozy though.
The next day we went back out to the jungle in search for a sloth. It took a while, but it was worth the search. Then we ate lunch, and went back out on the river to fish for piranha. I think I caught at least 10, and ive never been fishing so it was a lot of fun.
The next day was my last day, and my group took a short trek into the jungle to learn about the different plants and what they do for medicinal purposes. We also saw a lot of tarantulas, monkeys, and other animals that I can't remember what they are.
Overall I had a great experience with Amazon Gero Tours. The staff was very friendly, I had the experience of a lifetime and I would definitely go again.

1I am very proud to have had the opportunity to use amazon Gero tours services
during our tour we had a great adventure experience , at his charming lodge we had our own private cabana with private shower ,fan and a helpful mosquito net.
the food at the lodge was extremely good , my brother who are vegetarian had no problem as Gero's team accommodate his meal in a proper way.
it was very nice the overnight in the jungle in the 4th day by the third night.
As in the beggining we started to ask Gero about the list of animals we wish to see , but each single e-mail gero 's team answer they never gave us false expectative and we felt like we saw more than we expected.
I did before my booking a lot of searching ( research) and I have found the best.
Thank you very much Gero , Seon , Damion and all the people envolved in this tour organization we deeply wish to say thank you to Lonely Planet that helped us to plan our memorable trip around the Brazil and specially Amazon the highllight of our trip.
