Another first time traveller, help ?

Hi all,
I'm 21 years old, from Israel and looking to go on my first backpack trip.
My destination is to do a working holiday at Australia, and while trying to figure out the best way to do it the first "promising" thing I ran into was go workabout service ( http://www.goworkabout.com ).
After looking a bit in the net and reading posts here in the forum I still couldn't find neither any reviews from people who actually did it nor other better option to get settled quickly with a job.
So my questions are
Is this service is reliable ?
Do you know anyone who did it ?
And would you recommend it ?

Any help will be appreciated, thx alot!

$500 for a bunch of things that you can do yourself for $0. Seems like a rip off to me.

I'm a local, but I've had some friends and family come over here and do some backpacker work. None of them used an external service - though I can't speak directly about the one you've found.

It depends how desperately you'll need work when you arrive. If you're staying in a backpacker hostel (especially in a major city) then the staff and other guests there will be really well informed about what's happening at the moment. But it's a long way to come on the assumption of work.

As hereandtherenz points out, you can do this research for free. A quick search of Australian job website Seek reveals 89 jobs with 'backpacker' in them somewhere. May be a place to start?

So, unless you have another passport other then your Israeli passport that is on the WHV list, then you will not be able to obtain employment in Australia. Any money spent on a website to get a job would be flushed down the toilet without a valid visa.

An American can get a WHV.

So reiterating, no need to pay a website for what you can do by yourself.

I am making an assumption you are jewish, if so, then when you arrive get involved with the local jewish community in OZ and they will likely be able to help you get a job via word of month.
