Canadian Hostel Cairo
In the past I have stayed at the Canadian Hostel and arranged a tour with them once I got there. I tried to contact them but haven't heard back. Does anyone know if they are still in business or have other recommendations for accommodation in Cairo and arranging a tour when we land? Thanks in advance

I walked past that hostel when I was there last year and it was open then.Any of the more popular hostels (Pension Roma, Dina's, and others) will help arrange tours for you.
Keep in mind you don't need tours; Egypt and probably all the things you want to do are easily arranged on your own. A tour may make things slightly more convenient for you, but you'll pay the price in a higher expense.
Good luck.

We stayed at Hotel Luna for about $16 for a double room including breakfast. The room was really nice as well.I would recommend travelling Egypt independently. It's very easy to do. We saw the amazing Western Deserts and Oases, sailed the Nile River, went to Dahab, Alexandria, Aswan, Asyut, Luxor, Cairo and the Pyramids, all on a backpacker's budget. Tours are expensive and not as authentic of an experience.
Egypt is probably our favourite country, you will have a great time there!
