Renting a cell phone???
Hi all,Thanks for all your great suggestions and comments. Just reading the many postings has given me some great ideas.
I have an android phone from the U.S. While it might work in VN, the cost to use it there is rediculous ($1 US per minute+). While I probably won't be making many phone calls, I want to be able to use the cellular internet for things like GPS, checking email, looking things up, running various traveling apps, checking into Lonely Planet, etc.
Do you know of any way I can rent an android phone in Hanoi and then return it in Ho Chi Min City about 3 weeks later?
I have a tablet that I can use wherever I get Wifi, but since (as you may have figured) we are traveling from North to South, having a connection that is not dependant on WiFi (at least for a phone) would be nice.
I am using a Motorloa Bionic. It does have a sim card, but seem to recall that Verizon uses a CDMA (?) signal whereas most cell networks outside of the U.S. use the other type (or vice versa...)
Any ideas, suggestions, etc. are greatly apprecaited.
Thanks.

I agree that you just need to buy a cheap Nokia phone for 300.000d and a sim card. To call in Vietnam it is only 1000d/min and if you call out of Vietnam is about 8000d/min.After you trip you can sell your phone for 150.000d .
There are wifi free in every hotels in Vietnam and every cafe shop now. so just use your tablet.
