Are these day trips over and above your travels to places like Pangong Lake, Nubra Valley, Tsomoriri Lake?
If not, then you would seriously need to think about re-planning your itinerary.
If yes, then I would say the price is on a higher side...Day 3 is like maximum 17kms journey and even if you count to and fro you will hardly get to more than 50kms...i believe they will charge for a min number of kms.
Day 1: Rizong is the farthest place around 65 kms from Leh, and Alchi is on the way...Likir you might have to take a slight detour so add another 35 kms...so total distance comes to 65 + 65 +35 = 165kms...
Overall, price seems to be on a higher side.

2You won't need inner line permits for any of those places.
I like your itinerary because you have maximum time out of the car and seeing things, and no long car journeys. Indian tourists (probably like reply #1 above) prefer itineraries that go to Panggong Lake and Nubra in as few days as possible, making their whole trip into hugely long days in the car on bad high roads, and very little time out of the car with your feet on the ground. I like your itinerary better. It gives you more contact with the people, the place, the culture, and the ancient monasteries.
It's not true that your day 3 is only 17 km. Thikse is about 30 or 40 km east of Leh, and Phyang is about 23 km west of Leh, so you'll go out to the east in the morning and then come back through Leh and go out to the west. Minimum mileage would be over 100 km. But actually you should just see Thiksey on the way to Chemre and Takthok because it is literally on the way.
On day three along with Tsemo Gonpa, see the organisation LAMO just under Leh Palace; they have a gorgeous restored ancient buildings and changing local art or history exhibits. ANd then get your taxi for SPituk and Phyang only after lunch in Leh.

31. Even though Julay has used the word "probably" but it has been simply assumed that my trip or other indian tourists trips are packed in few short days. I am not sure about the others but my trip comprised of 12-13 days with more than enough time to explore various places with even overnight stays at many of these places.
2. Sorry missed Phyang and yes it is roughly 23 kms from Leh to the West however, if we are talking about the same Thikse monastery which is there on Leh Manali highway, it is approx 17-20 kms from Leh and not 30-40 kms.
Btw, on the way to Thikse you can stop over at Shey Palace roughly 15 kms from Leh.
No offense meant Julay but please don't assume or generalize.
Yes, please decide based on your tastes/likings which could be similar to Julay's or mine or may be entirely different from us...

4Thanks for all your advises. We travel overland from Shimla to Leh. Will spend 6 days in Leh if not delayed by any landslide on the way.
We decided not to go to Tsomoriri.
Considered Nubra valley but can't find much info + where to find budget GH. We are intersted in monasteries, old buildings, art, landscapes and I expecially in contact with the local people, their way of living, housing,thinking...I also readthat you need to travel in group of 4 persons, we're only 2 otherwise they may send you back at the pass even if you have permits.
Pagong Lake ; same, less info . Where to sleep and what to be seen?
I'll appreciate a lot if you'd be able to give some more info or other suggestions around Leh

6Shimla - Leh...most likely you will go via Manali..
Manali-Leh is approx. 450 kms and it is a back-breaking journey as there will be some places where roads as expected don't exist...however, worth every single minute as you will get to see different landscapes and different shades of the great Himlayas.
Nubra Valley is simply fantastic...where in your will be able to see a monastery, double humped camels, desert-green pastures and Himalayas in the background in one frame...You can stay at Diskit, one of the last villages on the way to Siachen Glacier where in can easily stay around in any of the GH. We also didn't book anything in advance, just went there and spent a night at Diskit...there is also a hidden lake on the way to Diskit...
Pangong: No GH as such, there are few locals out there and you can ask them to provide you a bed in one of their tents..else you can do a day trip...but yes one way journey is around 5 hrs so you will spend quite some time in the car...Pangong is a beautiful lake which is 2/3 in China and 1/3 in India...am sure you must have seen the pic...apart from this there is nothing else to be seen..so if you are okay with it you can skip it...
My whole reasoning for including these 2 places is that you don't plan many trips to a place like this so while you are there you would like to definitely visit the best places around and believe me Nubra Valley for sure is worth it both from picturesque point of view and your likings (monastery, landscape, locals etc)...you have to stay overnight at one of the small villages around. E.g. Diskit or you can also stay in tents at a nearby place...
I am unaware of the 4 people group thing.

7As regards Pangong Tso, there is no need to stay in tented accomodation, which is rather on the pricey side. There are some homestays in Spangmik, main village on the lake. The place where we stayed was very basic but friendly, clean and meals were available. More details at http://meczko.wordpress.com/india/

13If you are still looking for an honest price I would recommend Golden Peak Travel on Changspa in Leh. Ask for Wangchuk, he is a gentle honest man who I would trust.
