Wine Museum Hotel or Kabayan Hotel, Manila??

Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels?? Any feedback? The wine museum rates well on tripadvisor but there are very few reviews. On here someone said it is in a very dodgy area. Is that true? On the map it looks like it is only a matter of metres from EDSA? Not knowing Manila at all I dont want to end up in a terrible location. That said, I'm happy to get cabs to where I need or want to go so in that sense it doesnt matter so much if there are amenities around or not. I'm looking at these two as they are around the right budget and are close to the airport, which is the key thing I'm after (also not far from Mall of Asia if I get bored!).

sorry I am not going to be much help but have to say that Wine Museum hotel looks pretty interesting, nice website. Your really going to have to go stay there and report back to us lol. I wouldn't worry too much about being close to the airport, that comes up a lot here, an area like Malate is really pretty convenient to the airport if you wanted something with roaming around sorts of things from your hotel. I wouldn't think the Wine museum area or Kabayan for that matter would be dodgy but rather more boring, you probably would be using taxis to get someplace else in terms of interesting stuff to do in the immediate area...but you really have to go stay at that Wine Museum

The area itself (Wine Museum) is similar to Manila (the city) vibe except I wouldn't advise to be walking around especially at night (this you can at least do in Malate area). It is closer to the go go bars around there so take that into consideration.

Kabayan hotel is mostly used by locals for a short pitstop.

Thanks leng77! Since wine museum isn't responding to me it looks like I'll book the Kabayan. I realise there are probably better hotels/accommodation elsewhere but we're only staying one night and have an early flight, so the difference between a 15min airport transfer and a 45min one is significant to us.
