Chiang Mai Sunday Night Market?
hi again, so i have the opportunity to either leave chiang mai sunday day/afternoon, or stay the day/night and experience the sunday night market. it sounds like for many travelers this was a highlight. should i plan on going?2
I guess that is a matter of opinion - I detest the Night Bazaar, but usually hit either the Saturday or Sunday night market for a good look around and some street food.If you like the whole market scene then I would suggest staying but if you 'shopped out' or have seen more than your fair share of markets already, then you are not likely to see enough additional stuff to make it feel worth while.

I'm the exact opposite. You can't get me near either of the weekend street markets - abhor them. I don't mind the Night Bazaar and Kalare market.

HiI have been to the Sunday Market many many times. Since I really enjoy shopping I would miss it. That being said it is very very busy but if you do't mind crowds consider it a must. In addition the Saturday Night Walking market is just as good !!

Especially this time of year, the Sunday market is very crowded. There are all these sports competitions going down in Chiang Mai right now, so along with the regular influx of tourists, many Thai tourists are here too. I end up going to the night market every week to get foot massages and good street food, then ask myself why I came the second I got there. If you go, go after 9 when it's a bit less crowded.7
Sundays Walking Street must be cos I said so 10 times better than night bazaar . Not only is the craftwork so much more original ,there is the music and interesting food .You can get a good feed of crispy fried crickets for bht20 . Sure its crowded ,must be for a reason . If you cant stay until sunday evening ,there is also a friday night market .It also starts about 5pm .11
Thai tourist markets are usually crowded and average with above average prices. Nothing that can't be found in MBK.But if it floats your boat, go for it.
I'll go there to get a Subway sandwich, but can't be bothered going into the night market itself.
Food outside just as good as inside.

Not entirely true tbl. There are stalls with original clothing items at the Sunday market which are either not available elsewhere or at least not commonly found (more for women admittedly, but then my wife is a woman). It also has a relaxed vibe and fairly sensible pricing. Of all the tourist markets I've been to in SEA, it is arguably the best. At worst it's a good evening stroll with plenty of eye candy.
