Accommodation close-ish to Manila Airport??

Can anyone recommend somewhere to stay that is easily accessible from the airport? We land at 3pm on one day and then depart early next morning, so just looking for somewhere convenient to stay the night. We'll have a second layover on our way out of the Philippines. Have searched on these forums but all the threads relating to airport hotels seem to be quite old. Not looking for rock-bottom budget place, but certainly can't afford the Marriott's ridiculous prices either! Mid-range please

If the accommodation near the airport is as bad &/or sparse as it appears then what area would you recommend going to instead & any alternative hotel suggestions elsewhere?? Many thanks!

Thanks surfboy. Having done some tripadvisor research, does anyone have an opinion on The Wine Museum Hotel or Salim Domestic Guesthouse??

Really, the main guesthouse/hotel area of Manilla is only a 20mins drive from the airport and is very cheap, so if you have to drive an extra 10mins to go there, its not really a big deal.

agree with above, the airport is basically in the middle of the metro area of Manila and the Malate district is very convenient to getting there. If your arriving at 3pm go stay in Malate, have a look around and some fun that evening and get a taxi back to the airport the next morning. I would give it more than 20 minutes but if its early in the morning bet you get there in 30 minutes

What if you need to get to the airport very early? I have a 6:30am international flight so would need to be at the airport around ~4:30am. I was concerned that trying to get a taxi or other transport at 4 in the morning might be frustrating and was considering staying at one of the airport hotels that do free transfers.

I am looking at the "Manila Airport Hotel" and "The Mabuhay Manor". Both are about $50 USD a night, so not cheap, but by the end of my trip perhaps I could use one night of semi-luxury before spending 24 hours on airplanes :)

Anybody have experience with either of these places or other feedback on getting to the airport very early in the morning?

it is no problem at all getting a taxi at 4am in Manila, in fact its probably easier to do it then than in the afternoon. Manila is a 24 hour a day city and taxi drivers don't take any of it off. The only difference with it at 4am would be a lot more taxis available than costumers. You don't have to take my word for it but it just seems kind of a shame to let worrying about getting a taxi to the airport affect how you plan your trip. Honestly I use to live in Manila and 4am was my favorite time to be going around town, no traffic, agreeable taxi drivers, cool night air. Its fun to go to the airport at 4am from Malate, have done it countless times and getting a taxi is the least of your worries

i agree with the above

at 4am in malate there will be more taxis available, less customers, & almost no traffic to factor in. and the fare will most likely be cheaper

Don't worry about being close to the airport - there's nothing there... Go into agoda.com, go to the Manila page and check out Makati, Malate, Ermita and Pasay. None are more than a few km from the airport. Agoda has a map function where you can check and compare prices on a couple dozen hotels in each of these areas very quickly and find something in your price range.

They have a customer review section and you can go to tripadvisor.com for a double check. Agoda prices are not absolutely the cheapest and on budget hotels in Manila, you can probably do a bit better on a walk-in price... but for a single night we're only talking a few hundred pesos saving, so book it online and save yourself a bit of hassle.

Hi,

SB No.2 the guy has asked for Mid Range accommodation. I agree with you about the townhouse, I like the place and had good times there. OP why close to the airport? Do as suggested and stay in the city, not so far really from there.
