Hello Louise - and welcome to the LP-TT Africa pages. From a search of the DFAT website it would appear that your options are limited (and DFAT may be able to assist) but I think you are going to need to both email the embassy in Japan and also download the visa application form. The form should have instructions concerning where to send it and hopefully your email to Tokyo will prove fruitful. A couple of questions: when do you depart - if its more than 6 weeks then maybe sending the passport to Tokyo is an option - probably best through DHL rather than Australia Post and you want to be able to ensure a chain of custody; if you have an intermediate port of call - in a major African city you may be able to get the visa enroute. Again this is something to discuss in your email. Good luck.

Your other possibility is IF you are flying via Dubai, you can get one there & they 'may' still issue the VTE there at the Benin Embassy (please let us know if they do!)

Obviously you may now have a change of travel plans ...

I came from Benin two weeks ago. I live in Warsaw ( there isn t embassy of Benin so I started from Togo. In Lome You can get a visa to Benin ( 10 000 or 15 000 ) or visa les pays Entente 25 000. Togo visa in aeroport of Lome for 8 days is 20 euros.You can visit this realy lovely country. The best et Bon courage! Grazyna

Better you fly in to Lome togo as you can get a visa at the airport in lome for 20 euro.
then go from Togo to Benin.
