Don't know of anything specific but you can try contacting these folks I mentioned in another post - http://www.thevacationvillage.com/index.html

or consider a different area - to the north west coast - http://www.boukanguinguette.com/welcome

and some others may drop by and offer ideas.

I really can't rec tenting without some security. You may be comfortable with it, but it's a good way to get your things stolen. As you are aware, there really are no isolated places in Haiti, and although most Haitians are friendly....

good luck

Thanks for the response Perry. I think you are right about the sketchiness of tent camping though I know some blans that pulled it off in jacmel or aux cayes during kanaval. My friend invited me to join her family on the Sampana Peninsula and it sounds lovely and easy, and at least the easy part I have never associated with Haiti. boukan guinguette sounds lovely though a 7 hour trip from Port au Prince is pretty ambitious and a the charter sounds pricy. I'll check out the vacation vilage though. I want to at least consider supporting Haitian tourism before getting on a bus in Port au Prince to Santo Domingo. cheers!

The real problem w/tenting is security.
I know there are cheap digs, but they will not have a way to contact ahead of time, most likely, and may be far from where you are interested in being. Staying w/friends is how I've kept costs minimal, but 2 of the homes are gone now.
