Budget Accommodation around Bus Stations in ManaguaWe have a 7:30 am flight out of Managua on Tuesday morning, and we were planning on going from Granada to Managua the day before, either taking the bus to Mercado Roberto Huembes or a minibus to UCA. We had wanted to just stay somewhere near the bus station (somewhere we can walk to so we don't have to take a taxi). Does anyone have a recommendation for a budget accommodation around one of these bus stations? Which area is safer and which has more cheap comedores around? Does anyone know how much a taxi for two to the airport at around 5 am would cost?
Thanks in advance for your help.

2Ah, yes, we are now looking into the taxi from Granada option. Just out of curiosity, do you know how much a taxi from Managua to the airport would be? I thought I read $10 in a shared shuttle, but that just seemed so high that I wanted confirmation...

3we stayed at a hostel right up the street a couple blocks from the bus station. 4 bucks a person. We even walked around at night, and went to the grocery store and stuff. no problems at all.
and in town taxi to the airport will depend on where you are coming from. but should only be like 2 or 3 dollars.

4If you are not close to the airport, the taxi can be higher than $10. I think you would be better off taking a paxeo from Granada to Managua and staying around the airport somewhere.

5UCA is near the more international section of Managua than Huembes. It's at the university.

6likeeveryoneelse--What was the name of the hostel you stayed at, and how long ago did you stay? Was this near the Huembes bus station? Was the taxi price you mentioned per person or total? Would the price be higher at early in the morning, e.g. before sunrise?
dollyd--Was that $10 per person for the taxi, or $10 total? Can you recommend a place to stay that is close to the airport?

8from what i understand, there is no budget accommodation around the airport. however, if you stay in granada and use paxeos shuttles, they have a shared shuttle service that leaves at 4 am. it costs $25/person; and if you sign up for it they keep adding people and it keeps getting cheaper, down to $8. i suggest you take a look at their website - it may in the end work out cheaper for you to stay in your budget place in granada and save the price of a place in managua, save the cost of travel to managua and the cost of a taxi to the airport.
