On January 13, 2012 donalryan2001 asked the exact same question and received multiple responses.

I can't provide a link on this computer or I would, but you can do a search by user name and find that thread very easily.

Good luck.

Hi,

Why don't you contact the Somaliland liaison office in UK?
It's possible to send them an email.

See it here ... You can give a call or directly contact the Somaliland mission in the US. They should assist you on this:

Well... I don't think that Somaliland has any rules preventing Israelis from entering their country.

That said, I'm not sure it's a good idea. Somaliland is stable, but Somalia teems with Islamist groups, especially in the south, and they may be interested in grabbing an Israeli - you can never know whether thay have a hidden cell in Somaliland at the time when you visit or not. Anyone checking your passport may tell someone else that you're Israeli, and that someone else can tell anyone else... information spreads fast.

If you don't have a dual nationality and another passport you can use, I'd advise you not to go.

I just got back from there after spending several weeks in Hargeisa. I do not have an Israeli passport, but I do have a lot of Israeli stamps in my passport. I had no problems. I commonly told people I was jewish and ran into no issues. The locals are very friendly and like to meet with outsiders. They have been equally screwed by countries from around the world throughout their history, so I think they are generally equitable in their criticism of international governments.

Some people, in fact, had very positive views of Israel in particular. You will find a lot of similarities between Somaliland and Israel in the 50's and 60's (other than the fact that israel had a lot of money supporting it throughout that period). The two countries stand to benefit a great deal from eventually working with one another, as a matter of fact.

Enjoy your stay there.

I know its a bit late to add to this conversation but I just wanted to also bring a more serious note. I have jewish (non Israeli) friends in Hargeisa, they try to keep a low profile but in general are as safe as anyone else. However, my own staff have been known to post things on social media, particularly during the last war in Gaza, about killing all Jews. You might go an be fine, but it is worth knowing that by no means do all people love Israel and Israelis and quite a few do wish them a great deal of harm.

I second what Euridice wrote. I met Jewish people in Hargeisa, they only told their religion to their closest friends. Most Somalilanders could not care less about Israel, however information spreads fast. I'm pretty sure that the Israeli embassy in Nairobi would strongly advise Israeli nationals not to travel to Somaliland on an Israeli passport, unless they're on official travel. You can always contact them and ask.
