I have yet to meet one person in NYC where I reside who refers to it as that.

You're looking at one NYer who does. But back to your question, OBVIOUSLY, you knew damn well what it was referring to.

Do you also refer to California as Cali? Ugh. Please don't.

To add to the above, OP is underestimative how long a visit to the Statue of Liberty will take. While you can run around Liberty Island in 30 minutes, Ellis Island takes much longer and I would say is a better place to visit.

No reason to "tour" Chinatown. Just eat there. If you want a tour, check out the Tenement Museum. A different kind of tour, but very good.

While the art is Baltimore isn't bad, the art at the National Gallery is spectacular. And anyone who thinks they are going to get a White House tour by just showing up clearly hasn't done any research.

WH Tours need to be arranged thru your Congressman for your state, and you need to have a FBI Background Check as well, best to do this well in advance to get on the list, if its even offered the days you will be there, as there are a lot of events there too.

Should I try a different approach? Like NYC, Baltimore, DC, TORONTO(Niagara), Boston then back to NYC?

Why? You have six days, right? Four days in NYC and two days in Washington is a good combination. There is a lot to see in NYC; our suggestions were to visit some more diverse places within NYC, not to spend less time there. In your current plan, you are not really visiting NYC, just midtown Manhattan/Times Square. Manhattan is really long thus there are great neighbourhoods in the south, middle, and north parts of the Island. It is best to visit all parts. Those of us who have visited there several times and have discovered the richness of the city get dismayed when visitors want to concentrate their time in just one area, especially if it's in midtown. With four days, you can visit four different areas, Times Square being one.

Unless you are flying, Niagara Falls and Toronto is a long way. Boston requires at least two days...so you could only follow the new "approach" if you don't spend any time in NYC.

True dat. If you want a really fast cheap superficial look at a lot of destinations, take it one step further: Just stay home and zoom around Google Earth.

#27 is spot on. You're trying to fit in way too much. Even if you're trying to do a quick trip, you need a minimum of 4 days in NYC, which leaves you 2 days to see DC. That's about all you can fit in.

Just to correct misinformaion above, the Atlantic City boardwalk is not gone (http://www.scpr.org/news/2012/12/06/35146/post-hurricane-sandy-atlantic-city-wants-its-touri/). In your case, with limited time, I'd still skip AC.
