Orinoco Delta - Worth the Trip?
Hi,I'm planning a trip to Venezuela for February 2013. I'll have 16 days.
Orinoco Delta is of interest to me, though I don't see too many posts/details about it.
I'd appreciate any advice on if it's "worth" seeing, in terms of wildlife and the experience in general. I've been to the Amazon in Peru and the mosquito situation was unpleasant, but I otherwise loved the jungle.
Also interested to hear which anti-malarial people take, if any, these days.
My rough itinerary for this trip is: Caracas - Llanos - Angel Falls - Orinoco. (Maybe too much for 16 days?)

Llanos is a 4 day trip from Merida, though trips don't leave everyday. The people at were quite nice in person and quick with e-mail response. Guamanchi Adventure Tours www.guamanchi.com/ This time of year is a great time to go. There are tours from Caracas but they are more expensive.Angel Falls is 3 days from either Puerto Ordaz or Ciudad Bolivar. Getting to the Falls might be tuff. I went a few weeks ago, and had to get out of the boat multiple times and push, though it was worth it.
From talking to friends that have done Orinoco have said it is a 3-4 day trip.
So I think doing all three would be hard or not possible, and that would only be if you only took flights. Also be prepared for delays on all flights out of Caracas, sometiems multiple hours.
