Send me somewhere! 1 month and $3000

21 yo female from the midwest US with a month and a bit of cash to spare next may-june. I enjoy culture and the outdoors. I just want to take a bit of time to enjoy myself and travel independently (something I haven't done before). I've spent some time in Kenya and Tanzania and loved that, but ideally my $3000 would include airfare, so I don't think I can swing getting myself to East Africa again unfortunately.

I'm literally up for going anywhere in the world, I just thought I'd gather a few ideas on where I could go and what I could do on a budget like this.

Have a look at Colombia. Flights from Chicago to Bogota are around $425 at around that time of year with Spirit Airlines. $2500 is a very healthy budget for a month in Colombia. Plenty of culture and amazingly diverse outdoors.

On that budget, most countries in Asia and Central or South America. You won't be able to live a life of luxury but if you don't mind travelling by bus or train and are happy to stay in low-budget accommodation, you will have no trouble.
