Nice parts of Bangkok to stay/Visit, Relaxed- Old Buildings
Hi guys! I'm heading out to bangkok tommorow, will be arriving at 00:55 the next day am so thinking of booking a hostel/hotel in advance. I dont want to spend more than £30 (thats splashing out a bit for comfort on first night) I want to avoid hassely touristy areas such as Khao San selling beer lao vests and cockroaches. Where is there nice old architecture with people just going about their business in Bangkok? And also good street food and shopping as I'm planning on doing all my christmas shopping in bangkok and sending home :) Thanks for any help!!1
Hi, sorry but I can't help you for accommodation in bkk, as when I'm there I'm just passing through as it's too busy and polluted for me, but as for shopping there then there is a shopping centre, which has markets inside and around it called mbk, marbon krong, not sure if that's correct spelling but it looks right, and there are plenty of markets around it and lush food stalls as well....enjoy your trip3

Evening go along Yaowarat road towards Grand China Princess hotel. Plenty of foodstalls half way going there.
Norris, you walk fast in that climate.

Chinatown, but you cannot get away from cockroaches, they have been on earth 400,000,000 years. They will survive a nuclear blast.The weekend market has everything you can possibly want to buy from kittens to clothes. Take the skytrain to Mo Chit and follow the herd.
There is a good night market for food near Lumpini park.

I'd say so long as you've booked the right number of days/nights, there shouldnt be a problem.

suk11 on sukhomvit 11, has nice old feel to it, relaxed. haven't been there in quite a few years. if wanting shopping, there is plenty on sukhomvit, street and malls.some more thoughts on river view, as thinking about that myself. site says it has parking, as i self drive, so that's a must. family room 1000 baht i think...........input/thoughts of those that have stayed there. pit stop for a day or so, as heading south.

Parking must be nearby, the little soi definitely too small for parking.There is a Chinese temple, which might have some parking, and a larger dead end soi nearby, maybe that's where. Ask to confirm.
