myanmar beer drinkers

Myanmar Beer has had a "lottery" going on for a while, and it's supposed to continue til April 2013. Large bottles have prizes written underneath the white covering inside the bottle cap...200 kyat, 500, 1000, free bottle, etc. Restaurant and beer station staff are happy to pocket those caps because most foreigners don't know about the prizes. Wins happen frequently, so give it a try beer drinkers!

Hey thats a good reminder teh last time they did that I won two free Myanmar beers

I opened my sta cola when hsi daughter finally came and I won a free sta cola Ha! Ha! after that whenever the old guy heard someone order a sta cola, he would jump off his chair to grab open the myanmar beers then and the sta colas for the bottle cap. the year later I teased he was savingthose prizes for a free flight to USA and he had collected around 650kyat. he always reminds me of it every year lol nice place for snack and a sta cola watch the traffic go by in Naung U with or without the 250 kyat prize lol

"Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn." -- Deuteronomy 25:4

If the waiter or bar-man (wage: 50¢ an hour) is alert enough to save the cap, good on him. If you (wage: $40 an hour) get the cap and it's a cash winner, leave at least half the cash amount as a tip; if you win a free bottle, tip him as if you'd bought two bottles.

weatherspoons!! I struggle to fight battle with the nouveau-riche at Sainsburies and tescos rubbish bins where they mark down the rotting out of date stuff just before closing 4 large seeded bins from 98p to 19p and Bavarian honey smoked ham from £2.98 to 79p my idea of a night on the tiles is to get outside in the snow on the roof to get warm Ha! Ha! (its always warmer there than in my living room)
a meal out for me is at the takeaway before they close and the Doner kebabs & chips are 1/2 price about once a year when I celebrate heading of for SEA on my savings

$40 an hr malvolio what planet is that ? here in poverty stricken UK where Cameron wants to cut back on those benefit cheats (his words) the unemployed, getting $100 a week if lucky. The wages here in UK are normally around $400 per wk = $10per hr and most of that will go on rent and services.

Yikes. Here in California, $40 an hour is the salary for a new college graduate in a STEM field. I've never worked in Britain, but I've visited and prices are insane. $50 for a mediocre meal; $300 for a marginal hotel room. Where is all the money going?

If you (wage: $40 an hour)

I live in the wrong country, As the GM of a 5-star hotel I earn nowhere near that:-(

And if I pay for the beer, any prize is mine, that's how it is ((15 year of drinking beer in Vietnam, where these competitions are frequent: about 40 beers, 8 cigarette lighters, 3 bottle openers, 4 pens, and two laser pointers).

Where is all the money going? It's going to Cameron's govt to give to these hooray Henry's to rebuild our economy Thatcher style, so they can give the peasants more work less dole, washing dishes etc and hooray henry's boots and UK infrastructure (digging holes and roads etc)
just like the slave labour we used to see in Myanmar lol
they are even talking of bringing back the 'ducking stoo'l for sickness beneift cheats, if they can swim they arent sick if they drown saves paying them benefit anyway lol

Nice to hear about US's wages there. Here in UK, average new graduate will earn about 22k gross ( if they are lucky to find a job, of course) and will take home about 17.5k after 20% tax and 12% NI. That would make about 12 or 13 £ per hour? Then, the council tax came in and will set you back a month salary annually for a phony 1 or 2 bed flat. After that, you pay 20% VAT again everytime you want to spend whatever left in your pocket.

HMRC's tax receipts have been sky rocketing since 2001 but they hadn't considered a tax cut because they need to fund for housing ( or should I say mansioning) of some terrorists from middle east, NHS bill for pregnant women from EU giving child birth in UK, bottomless EU budgets, MPs' second house expense allowance etc...

I don't know which hotels you stayed with 300$. I managed to to do quite few times with Hilton, Marriott for about 150$, holiday inn, premier inn, best western etc... for 50-80$, ibis, travel lodge , novotel etc... for less than 40$.

Never mind that swimming thing. I have been worrying about the comeback of window tax because Cameron is hinting about another war with Syria.

I won a few beers and a couple of hundred kyat from this when I was in Burma. You're right that the staff will take the bottle tops from you unless you know about this promotion. And if you didn't know about it then you wouldn't think anything of it.

And montyman, I wish that Cameron would bring back a Thatcher style economy instead of the current shambles we have where being a professional dole scrounger means that you arguably have a better life than someone working hard to make something of their life. In fact, just bring back Thatcher, the best PM that this country has ever seen :)

And I have no idea where you're getting your info from in your last post montyman? Most employees are on more than £6.50 p/h and rent of £700 per month?! Perhaps had Labour not opened the door to mass immigration then rent, and house prices, wouldn't be as high as they currently are? I believe a report published last week showed that having tens of thousands per year instead of the hundreds of thousands plus we get would result in a 13% cut in house prices. How about reducing the £500 net per week that is available for those on housing benefit to pay their rent. I wish that I was taking home £26,000 per annum for sitting on my arse doing very little all day long. That's £26,000 net, somewhere between the £40-50k mark per annum gross just for rent.

The cost of council tax nowadays is a joke. It more than doubled under the Labour years as they sought to build up a voting base through the welfare state. Utilities have increased as governments have added in crappy green taxes which are just added onto the bills.
