Medical Insurance and phone for a 2 1/2 months roadtrip

Hello all.. its my first time posting here. My plan is to travel by car rental for 10 weeks. starting in orlando, heading north along the east coast, going across towards west and down west coast and across the southern states down towards miami and return to orlando in Aug 13. (also looking for anyone who wants to come with)

Anyway we are currently working out insurance. and need to find a reliable insurance for medical in case we get injured or hospitalised in this period and wondered if you guys have any recommendations. also wondered if there is a difference between travel insurance and medical? usually i just buy travel insurance with virgin travel when travelling in europe and ive bought it when i went to Hong Kong.

I have an iphone 4s and would like to also get a pay as you go type sim card.. so i can keep in contact with group in case we get separated, browse the internet and occasionally call/text home. I've looked at t-mobile who have a $3 a day which incs text, calls and data but its expensive. anyone know off any other deals.

We are all based in the UK, age ranging from 21 to 35.

Any help would be much appreciated :)

I have used Travelguard during my worldwide trips, but I don't know if it is available for purchase outside the USA.

Virgin phonecard rates are excellent. I have just read that they may be adapted for use to any of the new phones. It may be cheaper to ask about the conversion at a Best Buy electronics store rather than at a phone store.

aww.......I wish I could go with you! :)))) :(
When in the USA (I stayed there for 9 months) I have had the tariff called Straight Talk Service, I payed 45 dollars per month and I had all calls and messages unlimited.
as for travel insurance, check http://www.globelink.co.uk/

Say hi to the USA from me :)
