Mandalay to Kalaw

Hello everybody, Looking for ideas regarding the best way to travel from Mandalay to Kalaw before trekking to Lake Inle, any suggestions please.

It leave from shwe Nyaung at about 18:00, So will get to Kalaw about 7:30-8.00pm.get to Mandalay at about 4:30-5:00AM.

#1...the Op asked about which ways to get there, and FROM Mandalay to Kalaw...

Cleo...options are to fly (quickest and most expensive..DOH), take the overnight bus (cheapest) or take a share taxi.

#2,thanks for the information.Do you know the timetable of the overnight bus from Mandalay to Kalaw?And where to take this bus in Mandalay?

sorry, can't help there much....it's been years since I did that route via overnight bus....I usually take the share taxi from Mandalay thru to Nyaungshwe...but there would be several different companies going...when I did it left late afternoon and arrived Nyaungshwe at something like 4am, so would have gone thru Kalaw a hour or 2 before that.

I enjoyed the morning bus ,from Mandalay to Kalaw . It was quite scenic and not a freezer bus . It arrived at Kalaw early afternoon ,giving time to find accomodation and organise a trek to Inle Lake .
If you go to Sams trekking ,there is a nice Nepalese resturant opposite .

I've taken both and both ways ie overnight bus Mandalay to Taungyyi stops Kalow Aubang and Inle gets to kalow around 2am and Inle 430am
day bus elaves around 730am and reaches Kalow mid afternoon avoid golden lilly
