I think there may be more in it on the nurses part. Taking a dodgy phone call and then topping yourself over it dosen't ring true... How can a woman do that and leave her kids and husband grieving???. I suspect she had some more underlying problems than the phone call... All this was dying down, Kate out of hospital and doing well,,, even Charles made a quip to a reporter about the prank... Until this woman topped herself this incident was put in the past. I have the deepest sympathy for the family left behind and for the way the DJ's have been villified as thoe they put a rope around her neck... But for her personaly I have no sympathy at all.16
The DJs have now had 2 days of intense counselling and 2 days to perfect their crying and get the story straight at least. I see the cynical radio station having called 5 times to get permission to broadcast couldn't get through so went ahead anyway and seem to think they have done nothing wrong, nice of them.20

Given that he announced the enquiry, he clearly thought we needed it until he didn't like some of its conclusions. But maybe it was always his intention that the enquiry would have sufficiently unpalatable conclusions that the press would realise it needed to get its own house in order to stave off the unpalatable.And what use regulation of the press in the UK when foreigners can do this without even stepping into the country? What are we going to do - extradite them to stand trial?
Even the Queen has previously been fooled by such a prank call - someone impersonating Jean Chretien (then) the Prime Minister of Canada got put through to the Queen on the phone once. What did we do about that, apparently more serious breach, apart from tighten up security?
And what does regulation of the press do to prevent such pranksters? There is some sort of curious belief in some parts that regulation can prevent misbehaviour before it happens, whereas actually all it can do is make the punishment for the misbehaviour sufficiently unpleasant that more people think twice before they do it.

The so called "caring" nurse had no thought of how our beautiful princess, who is suffering from acute morning sickness would feel about her suicide. Along with that and her childrens suffering puts her in the same bracket as that football manager who hung himself at home recently,,, knowing full well that his children may find him... Selfish, uncaring and pure evil...23
#15Its not twaddle. It was more a comment on what the popular press has been saying lately about nurses coming here from abroad and also what they have been saying about nurses not caring any more. Your comment says a lot about you not having a clue about what is going on in the news.

Bill you have no clue about mental illness or how events could have effected her obviously. In the same spirit of ignorance and heartlessness I would like to thank you for the three points at the weekend and point out we didn't even have our one remaining talented player who apparently without we are relegation material.

#15When you say the nurses are getting a massive pay cheque compared to home do you take in to account the british trained nurses who would be filling the jobs but go to the middle east for more money? Do you have some weird idea that this going abroad to work for more money is some weird one way thing? I think that really says a hell of a lot about you if that is the case.My mum trained in the UK and stayed in the UK to nurse.

There was a very good column in The Times, yesterday ...........Amid the online outpouring of shock and sadness, there is this telling suggestion from Mate Tangitu in New Zealand: “She would have felt that she let the Royal Family down.” She might well. They, to their credit, did not complain, but if you grew up in a city where royal visits are talked about for years, it might really hurt to think you had embarrassed them.
Scroll on, and amid the grief read this plea from Tauseef in Bangalore: “Sometimes we never know when we cross our limits and our fun becomes someone else’s problem. Some people are very sensitive to things. Kind request to all those who play such pranks that plz think if the other person can handle it.”
That strikes home hardest, with its civil and very Indian “kind request”. If that lonely death, far from family in the furore of a global news story, was indeed suicide then Ms Saldanha’s cultural background of dignity and duty may have played a part, as did the initial polite naîveté of her taking the call.
The two DJs might not have thought that hospital personnel could be upset at having accidentally betrayed a patient’s privacy. They probably have no concept of how actual professionals behave. Perhaps they will think harder now.

fowler9,It says a lot about you as a person when you feel the need to bring the person's race and immigration into the equation. Of course people go abroad for a variety of reason, however for you to claim that nurses in the UK don't get paid decently compared to their counterparts in other countries is quite frankly laughable. I would hazard a guess that I know a hell of a lot more about people both coming to the UK to work and also leaving the UK to work than you seeing as I work in an industry that deals with them on a daily basis.
If the press were making up stories about some foreign nurses not giving a toss then they'd be sued pretty quickly, no? Perhaps, and certainly in the cases reported in the press, they have evidence to back up their claims, or are you claiming that that isn't actually the case? The press reporting these events had nothing to do with this nurse committing suicide and I don't recall any nurses committing suicide as a result of it, do you? Feel free to prove me wrong.

A few very interesting posts there. Sorry Bill, I think we deserved the three points, but we could argue that for ever, ha ha. Sorry about the loss to your team through injury. As for meats I don't even have to hazard a guess that you don't have a clue about the nursing community compared to me. I really don't feel I need to prove you wrong, I have a direct connection to these people, you mentioned a vague connection to the "industry" of using immigrant workers, well done.
