Sounds like a severe lack of planning has led to your emergency.

I would suggest Hostels and applying for jobs.

You can use www.seek.com.au or www.gumtree.com.au to look for work and gumtree also for cheap share accommodation.

Do your visas allow you to work?

Good point Heathe, I made the assumption the were on WHV (417).

No valid visa, no work and I would start emailing home for money from mum and dad.

Hi guys, i suggest checking out gumtree for jobs and cheap apartments. Otherwise there are a few hostels such as Base in ST Kilda, Urban Central in Southbank, Ritz for backpackers etc! They are around 30 dollars per night! Urban central includes breakfast and so does Ritz but at Base it costs 5 dollars. If you need quick money i suggest you try to find door to door knocking jobs. Its horrible but it will help you survive until you find something better! There a lot of ads for door to door around places like Peterpans travel thing! Check out boards at hostels etc. Hope everything goes well!

Best regards!
