New $100 bills with spots...
Hey folks,I just came from the exchange office to get my brand new bills, and I saw that almost all my $100 bills have spots on them.
Is this: http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Album=STPOV64O going to be a problem?
They are on the same place on every bill.
I was hoping to avoid this kind of insecurity, but what are your thoughts on this?

Just got back from Myanmar and YES they are very strict on the money and were turning down bills with black ink spots in a heart beat. Also, the rates for exchange are the best at the banks and believe it or not at the airport. We came home with 5's and 1's becuase they wanted no part of them except to pay for government trains and boats or if your hotel came up to an uneven number for paying. We didnt come into the need much becuase our rooms always evened out to even numbers. 100's are the best exchange rate.2
I can't see anything wrong with that note. Am I blind?My brother had a few notes with some red ink marks on them that he were really worried about, but he had absolutely no problems exchanging them. At least with us they were mostly worried about creases. We had a few smaller notes that were refused some places because of some small creases, but then we tried them some other place with more luck.

I would guess that the Foreign exchange offices in Yangon would be the least picky...whereas a guest house upcountry might reject them...but that's a ...guess.5
Noekse,I'm just home from Myanmar. I'm from the Netherlands. I have not used any pristine dollars. Slightly folded and spotted are accepted through the whole country. Take some new Euro bills with you and you will be fine with your dollars. They are okay. If they refuse, let them pick others from the other bills you got.
CB Bank is also available for ATM since November 15th. No experience myself but you can try.

all the new crispy $100 bills we brought along had exactly the same marks on the back of each bill, otherwise bills were in perfect pristine condition as yours appear. I took an art gum eraser and carefully lightened up the marks but was unable to remove completely; had no issues anywhere along the way using the bills. This was 2 yrs ago should be even easier now I understand8
Elrosso, I'm also a Dutchie. Did you take €100 bills with you? Where did you get those, just at the bank? I'm planning on ordering them at the rabobank... I went to Burma in January of 2011 and then I only asked for new bills, I didn't pay any attention to spots. Everything went well, but since I'm going alone this time, I just want to be sure.Thanks for all your reassurances, greatly appreciated!

We've had 50 euro bills with us. Got them from the ATM (before getting chroseries ;)) and some at the ABN AMRO counter at Departure Hall 1 at Schiphol.Not all euro bills were very pristine but even in the hotels we didn't had any diffuculties to change them. Slightly folded and flattened them by an Iron does the trick.

Of course everyone prefers pristine bills, and they will "reject" others, but that's simply because so many tourists seem quite happy to play this silly game and will take back the notes and scramble to find prettier ones. The sooner tourists stop going along with this nonsense the better. The exact same situation used to exist in Vietnam and India, but was quickly stopped when tourists stopped complying. It's now happening in Myanmar - it's about time.
