Yesterday (50,000 skaters) and today some big tours in the Giethoorn area
Dutch championship on natural ice on Veluwe Lake near Elburg.
But since many years they organise an alternative Elftedentocht, mostly on the Austrian Weissensee. Planned for 2 February.

We drove to Provence and back today -- south of Carcassonne the sun came out (it is the line between different types of weather systems), but the wind!!! South of Avignon where we went, it was sunny and about 5° -- I'm guessing because the mistral was so strong that it felt below 0. All along the freeway running past Montpellier, Arles, etc there were wind warnings posted.337
No Elfstedentocht, the ice seemed to get strong enough but this weeks´s snow and a combination of strong wind didn´t make it safe enough in Friesland..Yesterday (50,000 skaters) and today some big tours in the Giethoorn area
