Any humanitarian group in Cebu City?

Hi!
This is maybe a little too specific question but I would like to bring an extra bag with clothes (or other items) to donate to people of the villages destroyed by Pablo (it will not be much but better then nothing ...I guess). I will arrive in Cebu city and I would like to know if some of you has any address or place were an humanitarian group operate and works. Or should I just enter a church?
Any suggestion would be appreciated!
Thanks,
GuaranĂ

Funny thing was I brought a couple baseball gloves and a ball once, they hardly knew what they were, on the other hand deflated basketballs and a pump would go over very well. Basketball is big in the Phils.

Good idea!
I use to bring stuff to Cuba and it was a lot of fun to enter a school with bags of colored drawing pens and pencils to donate!
I will see what I can find before I leave, I wish I could send something to Mindanao from there...

If you could donate some Tanduay to Surfboy in Cebu, I'm sure he would appreciate it, he's just been through the storm and I'm sure his nerves could use some steadying! heheh!

interesting Jagman you brought baseball equipment, they do have baseball in the PI, there is a professional league of some sort, always wanted to take in a game. Ken Griffey Jr was in Cebu once when I was there holding baseball clinics for youngsters and coaches. I thought that was pretty cool being I am a Mariners fan.

that frisbee team game that's a bit like rugby only with a frisbee is a bit popular here too. I was watching it on tv last night. I think it would be better if they threw the frisbee into a goal, like soccer, rather than just get it to the end, like rugby, so I still prefer the women's college volleyball - my Filipino tv sport of choice.

I took my gifts to Tandag in Surigao del Sur, bit of an outback there, lots of basketball but never seen anything else other than skim boarding and rolling motorcycle tires with a stick.

To prosecutor:
I agree with "stay out" : that's why I asked you all trying to find some alternative option.

About "stuff the bag with money"...I wish I could...I work hard all year to save money to travel and I am not such a good person to work all year to give the money away, then I would rather prefer to be a poor person myself and live in a hut without working (I already did this for about 10 years!)
Are you stuffing your bag with money or do you prefer to think: only money can help people so I don't give anything???

Hi,

OP, I am in the islands from Jan onwards. Will travel a little then go on to my project in Mindanao. If you really wish the stuff to go there (Cagayan de Oro), I would be willing to haul it there assuming that we could be in the same area at the same time to hand over. If you got a rough itinerary you could PM me if this appeals to you, then I can see if I am around. I am somewhat felxible with travel arrangements at the moment.

Thank you Brax,
I am also in contact with another lonely planet thorntree friend who could help me to get stuff to Mindanao. I will see if this works. In any case I will arrive into Cebu and fly out form there but I cannot carry stuff with me the whole journey, so basically my idea is to bring it to Cebu city.
If you want I can let you know if the first option is not going to work...
