JFK to EWR - just 4 hours stopover

If you want to try to make the flight, I would suggest booking a car service to take you from JFK to EWR. Dial7.com is frequently recommended on the TripAdvisor NYC forum.

In addition to clearing immigration and customs at JFK, you'll also need to be at EWR early for your international departure.

Connecting through the US is a pain even if you aren't changing airports.

My advice is if you are trying to get from country A to Country B then avoid any connection through the US unless you either have no choice.

Not only does it mean you don't have the hassle & cost of ESTA / US immigration / luggage collection / customs / TSA it also means you don't have to worry about transiting when your body thinks it's the middle of the night

Yea...We transfereed on the Lufthanse flight from Istanbul to Munich in 15 minutes, just had to have carry on/security check and we only had a 50 minutes layover, that would be impossible is USA.
