In some cases it will be difficult to tell original from Knock offs.
I bought a North Face jacket which I was sure was a knock off in Hanoi as we were going to the mountains and the possibility of rain. I paid $26 for it and it worked very well. When I got home I was in a large sporting goods store and a fellow was there who worked for the distributor of North Face and I had him look at the Jacket. He said it appeared to be an original. He also said many of North faces products are made in asia and that at times the manufacturer will make an overrun (which is against their rules) and then sell them to local merchants.
There was an almost identical jacket to mine in the store in Canada and it was $215.

All products are made for export. If they are selling originals, the factory that sold them will be forced to pay huge fines or replaced. Guess it depends on the factory if they are willing to lose Adidas business.

In the department stores in D1 expect to pay similar to western prices. Try off the beaten track.

I've bought North Face et al stuff in HCMC which looks a lot like genuine stuff to me. I think it is Vietnam. What North Face would like to happen and what actually happens don't always meet up.

So what you bought wasn't genuine TNF product? Sure, there are lots of items that look real, but the majority are not. You'll see a TNF bag in one shop, then 30 meters down the street you'll see the exact same bag with a Lowe Alpine logo.

It may be fake, it may be genuine, who knows?

A while back you could buy Callaway golf clubs in China for a fraction of the US cost; they were indistinguishable to genuine US Callaways even to experienced golfers.

You could buy the entire set (driver, 3/5 metal, irons, putter, golf bag and travel cover) for $200. The irons were good, but the driver was not. The irons were made from original cast molds.

I don't find it difficult to tell whether a TNF bag is fake or genuine. Can't say that I've seen any real ones in the markets in HCMC recently.

I know only you can find cheap stuffs at Old Quarter Road :)

I think they are really keen on Kipling/Northface and other tough brands :):)

As we know it's not genuine but who cares? if you can buy 1 Northface backpack with the cost of 20 USD only?

Enjoy!
